Best restaurant in Rhode Island. The food and service is unbelievable. Home made dessert is out of this world.

So sad that it took me 20 years of living in RI to get here. The restaurant is beautiful and make your reservations early (like two months ahead of time.) The server was fantastic and very knowledgeable. It was clear that they all are well trained and able to answer questions. Prices are reasonable for a high end restaurant. Shared a bruschetta (topped with creamy mozzarella, roasted peppers, olives and artichokes) and a beet and avocado salad. Had the fluke special for dinner and a melon granita with almond cookies for dessert. The menu draws heavily from local farms so everything was fresh and seasonal. Would definitely go back!!

I was a first-timer at Al Forno, attending a family dinner on a Tuesday night. The ride in from MA was easy enough, and I snagged the last parking spot in their lot; I'm not sure how parking goes during the weekends, but I'm assuming there's a valet, as the area is TIGHT and spaces are few. Our server, Simon, was super helpful and articulated all the specials and answered all my questions. The good thing about Al Forno is they do not rush you between courses, which could seem very slow if you're in a hurry. We were not. I was told by my SIL that we needed to order dessert at the same time as the entrees, because each is made to order, and some require baking time. She wasn't wrong, but the desserts were Oh, So Right! I ordered the Watermelon Shrub mocktail and the other had wine or Peroni. I truly wanted one of every appetizer, but I was a guest, so I went along with a margharita pizza and the special heirloom tomato & burrata salad. Truthfully, get your own salad next time. It was fresh & delicious, and I wanted the entire thing to myself. If I were dining alone, I'd have been all over the grilled octopus salad. Entrees included the creamy egg pasta (their version of Carbonara), 4 cheese pasta, baked eggplant, the cavatelli with boar bolognese, the fish special of FLUKE (excellent!) and my FIL ate some bizarre combo of shrimp salad with something else I can't remember. The thinly sliced mushrooms he left behind from his shrimp salad were enjoyed by me! Everything was consumed; I loved the eggplant, but if you're looking for a breaded and fried cutlet eggplant parm, you're in the wrong place. This was expertly roasted and dotted with fresh mozzarella and just the right amount of tomato sauce. I tried the eggy pasta and it was outstanding; I could have been very happy with that! We all tried each other's dishes and agreed that each were delicious in their own right. We got a bunch of desserts and shared them. The fresh baked cookie plate was amaze-balls. Lots of variety and candied orange peel...and the ginger molasses cookies were delish. The peach/rhubarb cobbler was served with whipped cream and creme Anglaise; I needed a whole one just for me. BIL had the fresh blueberry ice cream, served with 3 sugar cookies; nephew had the apple crisp tostada. Suffice to say, they were all amazing. Again, Simon was lovely...but there may have been a bit too much time between clearing off the dinner plates and arriving with the desserts. Also, he could have helped himself out with some upselling of hot coffee or tea. I would have buckled under the pressure if I'd been asked, though I was content to finish my water.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Rhode Island for the food, the menu, the staff and the upper dining room. When full it can get noisy but not loud enough to curtail conversation. Our server, Christina, was as expected very pleasant and efficient. We ordered drinks, glasses of Prosecco and a glass of Sophie Schall. Then onto the meal starting with a delicious dish of Squash flowers, which we shared. For the main course my wife had the Venetian chicken meatballs and I the duck legs (something that we do not cook at home). Both were tasty but we couldn't finish the pasta and took a sizable portion home. We ended with a devine peach tart. And for me an espresso. The meal came to $135 without the tip; well worth it. This is one of the very few restaurants to which I give five stars.

This is one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Providence! Tried to make a reservation 2 weeks in advance, and everything was booked out. Came on a Saturday right when the restaurant opens at 4pm, and managed to get a walk-in table. The ambiance is classy and elegant. The service is friendly. And the food is out of this world! We got: - mushroom pizza: delicious thin crust pizza and is flavored with a white sauce, mushroom, scallion, and olive oil. Absolutely delicious and one of the two best dishes tonight! - confit duck legs: the duck is cooked perfectly: the meat is juicy and the skin is crispy. The flavor is on pointe. The portion is also very generous. This is the other best dish tonight. - dirty steak: this is an off-menu item that can be requested. I thought it was cooked well with a flavorful sauce, but otherwise nothing too special but others love it. - grilled lamb chops: also cooked well and delicious - baked asparagus pasta: it's a daily special - rhubarb tart: the tartness of the rhubarb lakes well with the cream. Fyi the tarts need to be ordered with the entrees because they are made fresh per order. Will definitely come back!

After hearing how great this place was for so long I was finally able to try it out for my self. The pizza was delicious & unlike any pizza I've had before. It was light & refreshing & the opposite of doughy & greasy. That paired with a Caesar salad was a great start to the meal. The gnocchi was also well made but a little harder to eat than the regular fluffier style shapes. The wild boar sauce was perfect on it. The atmosphere was lively but also intimate & much busier than expected for a Tuesday. I'd highly recommend a reservation. The service was handled by a couple people but I found them all to be attentive & proactive with my needs & I appreciated the servers wine pairing suggestions.

We had the best lunch at Al Forno. We were lucky to get in before it got too busy. The service was excellent. Our server gave us many options and ideas.I ordered the apple cider special drink. It was so incredibly good, not too sweet with a delectable cinnamon rim. Our pizza was equally delicious. My daughter ordered the specialty dessert. I can't even remember the name of it, but man it was awesome! I love that Al Forno had a lot of seasonal items. It makes me want to return to try their winter and spring menus.

I died and went to restaurant heaven! This is without a doubt one of the best places to eat in the US. I started with their fresh bread with olive oil and espresso martini, then the baked tomato pasta which has been on their menu for 40 years... for a reason... and finished with their special Limoncello cake. The bar tender Greg picked a perfect Chianti to pair with dinner. I sat at the bar and visited with the other guests while the bar tender took care of us. Special and memorable foodies dream meal. Come to Providence, just for this.

My parents have been coming to Al Forno since the 90s and they've been bringing us for as long as we can remember. We've never had a bad meal here! Whether you're celebrating a birthday or just having a casual date night, the food and service never disappoints! It's our favorite restaurant in providence, no question. We're creatures of habit and always get the same thing ever time. The grilled margarita pizza, baked pasta with tomato cream and five cheeses, and dirty steak. For dessert, we got the brownie ice cream sandwich and pear walnut tart which was amazing. We always make sure to leave room for dessert since everything is so fresh and delicious. We've never had a bad meal here and keep coming back for more! If it's a nice day, try to sit on the patio outside under the trees / vines. Beautiful
